During a visit in February 1933, King Bao Dai visited the project while it was still under construction. Passing through the Front Gate, we will encounter a vast, open space filled with light. <\/span>History of the formation of Nha Trang Mountain Church<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\nAround 1885, Nha Trang consisted of only a few fishing villages scattered at the mouth of the Cai River and along the coast. At that time, the parishioners numbered about three hundred people and lived concentrated in Cho Moi Parish (Ngoc Hoi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1886, when the French established the colonial government in Nha Trang, it created conditions for two important scientific research projects to be built: the Pasteur Institute (1895) and the Institute of Oceanography (1923).<\/p>\n\n\n\nFishermen gathered to live near the Pasteur Institute to receive health care. In 1924, following a decree from the Governor-General of Indochina, King Khai Dinh issued an edict establishing the town of Nha Trang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To meet the religious needs of parishioners and some French officials living in the area, a small chapel was temporarily built on the coast of Nha Trang (now Nha Trang Bishop's Palace, 22 Tran Phu), under the jurisdiction of Cho Moi Parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWith the compassionate heart of a shepherd, the French priest Louis Vallet (1869-1945) who was taking care of the parishioners of Cho Moi at that time immediately thought of establishing a parish in Nha Trang, and the first thing to do was to build a spacious church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The church is located on the top of Hoang Lan hill, at the intersection of Nguyen Trai street and Thai Nguyen street (6-way intersection). Construction began on September 3, 1928 and was completed in May 1933.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
